This page is designed to aid the Cartographer's Guild in converting Polar Coordinates to D'ni Universal Coordinates.
Please review the section on Mapping Standards before using these conversions.

Standard practice when converting Polar to Rectangular coordinates is to use an offset so that all resulting map coordinates are positive values. We presently (2/04 mm/yy) do not know the size of the D'ni universe. Therefore the offsets are purely arbitrary. The origin for this conversion is presently set at:

*Kirel has a unique nature. The conversion from polar to rectangular coordinates will allow mapping in Kirel. But there is presently some confusion as to whither or not the conversion will work for adding Kirel to the global map of D'ni.
